London night tours do not leave from one place. They leave from eight, and one of them is a bus stop beside a hotel rather than a station exit, which is exactly the sort of detail that turns a booked evening into a missed one.

Green Park — the open-top buses and the ghost walk
Two very different evenings start within two hundred metres of each other here. The open-top bus leaves from a stop signed for the night route beside the Ritz, on Piccadilly, which is not the station exit and is the single most-missed meeting point on this list. Walk out of Green Park station towards the hotel and look for the stop, not for a bus.
The royal-parks ghost walk meets at the Diana fountain inside the park itself. Take the south exit, turn left as you leave the barrier and walk up the ramp; the guide carries a blue flag. Both are on the Piccadilly, Victoria and Jubilee lines, and the first two of those run on Night Tube evenings.
Aldgate East and Tower Hill — the East End walks
The Ripper walk with projections meets outside the Whitechapel Gallery at Exit 3 of Aldgate East station. Not Aldgate. They are different stations, roughly five minutes apart, and the listing spells this out because people get it wrong. Arrive ten minutes early; the walk leaves at half past seven.
The private Ripper booking meets at Tower Hill instead, in Trinity Square, where the guide stands with a red umbrella. It finishes inside Spitalfields Market, four minutes from Liverpool Street. The royal-parks walk also finishes near Tower Hill, having come across town by Tube.
Embankment — the black cabs
Three of the cab tours use Embankment as their fallback meeting point when you have not asked for a hotel pickup: one at Embankment Place, two outside the station itself. It sits on the District, Circle, Bakerloo and Northern lines and is a three-minute walk from Charing Cross.
All three of these will collect you instead, free, within five kilometres or five miles of the centre depending on the operator. If you are staying centrally there is no reason to meet them at a station at all.
Covent Garden and the South Bank
The Christmas walking tour meets outside the Covent Garden entrance of the Royal Opera House and finishes at Piccadilly Circus station, which makes it one of the few evenings here that begins and ends somewhere obvious.
The photography walk starts at Waterloo Pier by the London Eye and ends near Westminster station, so it crosses the river once and covers the best-lit stretch of it on foot.
Hotel pickup, and what it actually means
Six of these departures collect you. The radius is five kilometres from Embankment on two of them, five miles from Trafalgar Square on another, and simply "any central London address" on the rest. Give your hotel name when you book rather than afterwards, and expect a text message when the driver arrives.
If you are staying outside the centre, check the radius before you book a cab tour — one listing charges separately for pickup beyond it. The buses and the walks do not offer pickup at all.
Getting to a meeting point, and home again
Everything on this list is within a few minutes of an Underground station, which is why the operators chose these points. Getting there is easy at seven in the evening; getting back at eleven is the part worth planning.
Night buses run every night across the whole network. The Night Tube adds the Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines on Friday and Saturday nights only. Check Transport for London for the night you are travelling, because engineering closures move around at weekends.
If you are running late. Walking tours leave on time and one reviewer missed theirs by two minutes. Cab tours will wait, because the cab is yours. If you are cutting it fine, book a format that comes to you — the black cab tours all do.
